Change your address
Set up an address change with Canada Post and post-date your move. Totally worth the extra little bit of money.
ICBC
You are supposed to change your address within 10 days of moving. This link will go to the BC provincial site. Follow the steps to change DL and Care Card —> LINK
CANADA REVENUE
Canada Revenue Agency. I know, I hate paying taxes too but I really hate paying for interest I could have easily avoided.
ELECTIONS
Hoping soon it’ll just be as easy as voting on your phone with face recognition 🙂 but change your address for Elections BC
HYDRO
Make sure you pre-order your electricity to transfer with BC Hydro on or before your possession day. Click the ICON
GAS
Are you lucky enough to have a gas stove, gas fireplace or gas furnace? You need to make sure the Gas Man knows – Fortis BC
PROPERTY INSURANCE
You want to make sure you have the proper home insurance in place the day of completion. Contact our girl Chloe and get a quote – chloe.udot@jmins.com
TV / INTERNET
Make sure you aren’t without WIFI for more than a day. Trust us you’ll go mental. HaHa, Book a day with your provider. We use TELUS and it’s the best 😉 But ask your friends, check which provider has fiber and make sure you haggle for the best deal.
CELL PHONE
Your cell phone company may be different from your internet and cable. So don’t forget to check their site for the easiest way to update your billing address. TELUS – ROGERS
BANK
Don’t forget to let your bank, employer and your grandma that your address will be changing. Don’t want to miss Granny’s Christmas card.
MOVING COMPANIES

BOOK ELEVATOR
There is no hot link for this one, but contact your agent or read through the strata docs to find out their move-in / move-out rules. But make sure if do you have an elevator in your building or new building that you book it. WAY easier if you have it booked and locked off.
CLEANERS

MOVING BOXES
The cool new way to box your stuff for moving is renting resuable boxes like Gorilla Box or Frog box
KEYS
Don’t worry, when the time comes, we will make sure we collect the keys for you or from you.
LAWYERS
You likely have already let us know who your lawyer or notary is, but roughly 7-12 days before the closing date, you should be contacted by your lawyer’s office. If not, call or text us.
Don’t Get HANGRY
Trust us! By the time you are packed and moving into your new house you will be borderline HANGRY. So be smart and order food before it’s too late. Our GO TO is PANAGO, PAPA LEO’s and new favourite, SKIP THE DISHES
