Here’s What’s Up In Burke Mountain

Burke Mountain, positioned amongst picturesque parks, mature trees and beautiful trails, is unquestionably one of the fastest growing and most desirable areas to live in the Greater Vancouver Area.  The Northeast Coquitlam neighbourhood has everything you could ask for, including a family-friendly community amid abundant green space and beautiful views. We posted about the neighbourhood last year, but there have been some changes since then; all positive, which we feel deserve your attention!

As I’m sure you know by now, the Evergreen line has finally opened, making transit extremely accessible and more efficient for residents of Coquitlam, Burnaby, Port Moody and Vancouver. If you are not familiar with the Evergreen line, it is an 11-km extension to existing Skytrain system in Metro Vancouver. The Evergreen line connects Coquitlam City Centre through Port Moody to Lougheed Town Centre in roughly 15 minutes. By 2021, TransLink expects about 70,000 passengers will ride the route each day!

As for updates on schools in the area, School District 43 has secured 35 acres of land, and Burke Mountain will be the home to five schools – three elementary, one middle and one high school. Smiling Creek Elementary will be the first to open, scheduled for completion in September, 2018.

The City of Coquitlam’s Northwest Burke Vision, found here, outlines the future growth of the area. Once it is complete, the 990-acre neighbourhood is estimated to be the home of roughly 40,000 people, meaning 25% of people moving to Coquitlam will buy in Burke Mountain by 2030.

Burke Mountain is perfect for a wide variety of buyers, including those who want to be surrounded by tons of greenery, open spaces and nature, yet not be too far away from city life. Fremont village, located less than 10 minutes away, has everything you need, including Costco, Home Depot, Shoppers Drug Mart and of course, McDonald’s.  Coquitlam Centre Mall is only a five minute drive, and if you’re looking to head downtown Vancouver for the evening, you can jump on the SkyTrain and be downtown in forty minutes. Whether you are looking for large estate style residences, single family detached homes, rowhouses or condos / townhouses – Burke Mountain has it all, including our office!
