Hot Home Décor Trends in 2017

With each New Year that comes around, we usually take time to think about our personal goals and aspirations for the year ahead, but what about when it comes to home décor trends? The New Year is a perfect time to amp up your home, whether you’re aiming for a total renovation or simply looking to add more colour. Maybe you’re wanting to incorporate the 2017 Pantone colour of the year into your home this year, which is, by the way, Greenery.  Fitting for us West Coasters, no?

That’s right, time to introduce more green into your home if you want to stay on trend. From bright, lime green to the darkest hue of green, the colour works well throughout the home and perfectly with tan leather, faux fur and brass lamps.  There are several exciting home décor trends for 2017 – here are some of our favourites:

Mixed Materials

Mixed materials will continue to dominate the home décor trends in 2017. Ceilings, surface areas and floors will possess various textures, patterns and materials to make for eye-catching statements.

Faux Everything

We’re not just talking faux fur. 2017 will boast several faux finishes including faux wood ceiling beams, engineered quartz, faux textured wallpaper and faux leather.

Hygge, the Cozy Danish Concept

You may have heard of hygge, (pronounced ‘hue-gah’) by now, but for those who have no idea what we’re talking about, it’s the Danish concept of cozy living, and is a huge home décor trend this year. Quick ways to introduce hygge into your home are: invest in candles, add texture, don’t overdo and enjoy the space around you.

Yes, cork is making a comeback. In the coming year, cork will be a big home décor trend, as a stylish material that adds texture and warmth to rooms.

Eco-Friendly Home Décor

Each year, there is a larger focus on ways to reduce our ecological footprint and be more green. 2017 will see an abundance of indoor plants, hanging vines, flower pots, large windows and eco-friendly furniture. We’re all for it!
